ENID, Okla. (KFOR) – Enid and Garfield County library board customers are readying on their own for opportunity lawsuits.
An executive session in Monday’s board assembly provided the Enid city legal professional and metropolis supervisor.
“The discussion is to manage the intent of the library board location insurance policies, but also to make confident we don’t run afoul of the regulation in in any case,” explained Jerald Gilbert, Enid’s city supervisor.
To Gilbert’s knowledge, there are no lawsuits filed.
But a current plan applied by Enid and Garfield County Board of Directors is sparking controversy just after it resulted in the cancelling of a ebook club.
The new plan bans the display screen of textbooks and applications of content material connected to the teachings of sex, sexual things to do, sexual identification, gender identity, or other written content that is sexual in mother nature.
Francesca Leuquire is the organizer of the neighborhood romance novel e book club that was cancelled. Leuquiure stated the club even now satisfies consistently.
Since the library can no extended have them as an official club, they are now an Enid local community guide club. Even now needing a place to satisfy, Leuquire rents out a home at the Enid Library as a patron.
Leuquire doesn’t know of any lawsuits towards the metropolis, but she does help the strategy.
